KAREN KING
Karen King is a Managing Director of Silver Lake, the global leader in large-scale technology investing, where she is involved in all aspects of the firm’s business. She joined Silver Lake over 20 years ago when it was still deploying its first fund. Now Silver Lake is investing its seventh flagship fund and has over $100 billion in assets under management and committed capital. Karen serves on the boards of Franklin Templeton, the global asset management firm, Qualtrics, the category creator of XM or experience management, and Relativity, the leading e-Discovery platform. She previously served on the boards of Aras, an enterprise software provider of PLM solutions, and Serena Software, a global provider of IT management solutions. Karen is an angel investor in a number of early stage companies and funds.
In 2013, Karen received the Women of Achievement award by Legal Momentum. She is the past Chair of the Board of Trustees for Menlo School. She is also a former Chair of the Board of the American Leadership Forum - Silicon Valley (ALF). ALF is a network of hundreds of leaders, from non-profit, government and the private sector, including multiple current and past C-level executives of Fortune 500 companies, who are connecting to serve the common good.
Karen received her A.B. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for Duke. She is also a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she serves on the Northern California Leadership Council. Karen also serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Berkeley Center for Law and Business. And, she is a Trustee for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation.
